You have discovered that ending your relationship with your love handles is harder than finding help in a box store. Your efforts at diet and exercise have not gotten rid of stubborn fatty bulges, and the loose skin from multiple pregnancies or weight loss simply hangs and hangs. For a smoother and shapelier torso your remaining option is the tummy tuck, also know as abdominoplasty.

With a tummy tuck, excess skin and fat are removed surgically from the abdominal region and the underlying muscles are tightened to create a slimmer and smoother contour. The procedure also better defines the waist. This plastic surgery procedure is a major surgery and does require some recovery. Like any plastic surgery, not everyone is a candidate, but if you are considering a tummy tuck, consider these facts about this common cosmetic procedure.

  • Your physical condition determines whether you are a suitable candidate for a tummy tuck. Ideally, men or women who are in reasonably good physical condition make the best candidates for the removal of excess fat bulges and loose skin, especially if they have already tried to get rid of it with diet and exercise.

  • If your excess skin and fat is mostly concentrated below the belly button, you may be a candidate for a mini tummy tuck. In this procedure, there is a shorter incision and the belly button is not moved. There is also a shorter recovery from a mini tummy tuck than from a standard or full tummy tuck.

  • Because a tummy tuck is a surgery that requires a long incision, you will be left with a scar. To reduce this negative consequence, we place the scar in the lower abdomen that will typically be covered by underwear and bathing suits. And, with proper healing, the scar often becomes very faint.

  • Smoking interferes with recovering from surgery and increases the risks of complications following a tummy tuck. If you are a smoker, you will have to face quitting smoking two weeks before your surgery and during your recovery. Permanently quitting would certainly be best for many reasons.

  • You should be aware that liposuction may be used in conjunction with your tummy tuck. Indeed, liposuction might be all that is needed to achieve the desired result on your abdomen. Be open to the possibility that you may only need the less invasive procedure of liposuction. When you meet your plastic surgeon, he or she will examine you and help determine the best option.

  • When you visit your Beverly Hills plastic surgeon for a consultation about a tummy tuck, be candid about your body-shaping goals. Your surgeon will be evaluating the skin and fat deposits of your body along with your expectations about results. Then, your surgeon will discuss with you what can be realistically achieved with a tummy tuck.

  • The results of a tummy tuck can be very long lasting if you eat sensibly and stay active. If you overeat and gain weight excessively, then your skin and tissues will be forced to stretch out into new bulges.

A final thought for you to consider about tummy tucks is that nothing is standard with plastic surgery. Each body is unique with its own shape and underlying physical attributes. A plastic surgeon must assess each person individually and perform a tummy tuck that is suited to each body. If you get a tummy tuck, it will be the tummy tuck for your body and it will not necessarily look like the tummy of another person who also had the procedure.

I was playing tennis on a blustery and cold Xmas Eve 15 years ago when I became aware of a small black crescent in my vision in the lower outside corner of my left eye.

No pain, no discomfort but by Xmas day it had become larger. By Boxing Day I had a black crescent blocking over half my sight so my wife and I reluctantly decided not to go to the drinks party we had been invited to and instead drove the thirty miles to our nearest eye hospital.

To our astonishment I was told that I would have to undergo an immediate operation to repair a detached retina otherwise I risked losing the sight in my left eye.

I came round from the anaesthetic with my eye heavily bandaged and extremely sore. Apparently the surgeon had to make an incision in the eyeball and stitch the retina back. UGH !

Over the course of the next 18 months I had a further detached retina in my left eye and another in my right eye. Fortunately one was repaired by laser which was a virtually discomfort free procedure but I still had to have another surgical repair.

The reason surgery was necessary was that the retinas had become detached on the side of the eye and a laser beam could not reach the damaged area at that angle.

I was told that detached retinas could occur in middle age amongst the short sighted as the fluid in the eye undergoes a change in density and composition making the eyes vulnerable.

Since my teenage years I had become progressively more shortsighted and about which I was extremely sensitive. I was, and still am, very keen on ball games and as a young man excelled at fencing and was a keen boxer.

Despite the short sightedness I have been blessed with excellent reactions that have allowed me to carry on playing tennis.

In my thirties and early forties I used contact lenses but after getting grit under one lens and the accompanying pain which was worse and longer lasting than the later surgery I went back to ordinary spectacles.

As time went by my eyesight got worse complicated by the fact that I could no longer read with my every day spectacles and found that bifocals did not suit. It was easier to read without spectacles but by holding the book or paper very close to my face. Thank goodness I was still able to play tennis, golf and cricket.

As a result of my detached retinas I had to attend hospital every year for an eye check up and field of vision test. Some ten years ago I was told that I had excessive pressure in my eyes, this is known as Glaucoma and unless treated can lead to blindness.

From that day to this I have had to administer drops to both eyes very night and morning.

Then five years ago I was told that there were signs of a cloudiness on the lens of one eye. In other words a cataract was forming but might take a number of years before action would have to be taken.

Obviously I still had to have regular eye check ups so by sheer chance I booked an appointment with an eye specialist whose nameplate I happened to have noticed in passing.

It ranks as one of the best decisions I have made.

The specialist was in his thirties, Spanish and had trained in his own country and in Germany. He speaks excellent English and Spanish and has the most up to date equipment and facilities.

Most importantly of all he makes the time to discuss in detail his diagnoses, treatments and outcomes. It was while doing this that I asked if I could have the lenses in my eyes replaced even though there was not yet a sign of a cataract in the other eye.

Not only could I have both of them replaced but he told me that I would have an excellent chance of perfect vision in both eyes and if I needed a slight correction after the ops this could be done by laser.

I now have perfect vision, can read the smallest print without glasses and my distance vision is spot on. I didn%26rsquo;t need the laser and was able to see the very next day.

I still have glaucoma but there is no discomfort and my field of vision is as good as it has ever been.

The operations, which came four weeks apart, were completely painless both during and afterwards. In fact during the second operation I could hear a monotonous but vaguely musical sound so I remarked that I didn%26rsquo;t think much of his music. I was gently informed that it was the sound of the machine sucking out the lens I had from birth.

I am back to playing a good standard of tennis and can make out the ball even against a white advertising hoarding while playing under lights. Even golf where I always had difficulty tracking the ball is no longer a problem. I feel fitter, look better and have more enthusiasm for my pursuits than I have for years. My only regret is that I didn%26rsquo;t have this op years ago, I could still be playing cricket and putting up with the British weather.

Even after three years I still appreciate the miracle of perfect vision.

Do You Know Enough About Genital Warts?

The question is how informed are we about dangerous genital diseases and are the young having access to the information that could keep them safe?

Syphilis and Gonorrhoea have been around for ages and it is difficult to believe that young adolescents are not also aware of the more recent and very scary HIV. The first two can be treated and result in a complete cure if caught in time. Problem with both is that they can be passed on before the carrier is aware that they are infected.

But at least there is hope!

HIV or more popularly known as AIDS is a death sentence. It can be delayed, normal sexual relations can be carried on with the use of condoms and care but the outcome is eventually an unpleasant passing and loved ones are always in jeopardy.

There is another candidate genital disease that does not receive the attention it warrants and that is genital warts.

Small growths can appear in the genital area that can have serious consequences for both men and women. These small warts can be mistaken as benign, and many are, but those that aren%26rsquo;t can be fatal.

OnClick="window.open('article_show_image.php?img=user_files%2F44181%2FImage%2Fimg_patient-info.jpg','','left=10,top=10,width=760,height=265,menubar=no,directories=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,status=no')" style="width: 913px; height: 302px;" alt="" />

There is no way that any man or women can be sure that these small, and sometimes unnoticed growths are benign or lethal. Constant observation of the genital area is of paramount importance among the sexually active who have a variety of partners.

Worse case scenario is that dangerous genital warts can be transmitted via oral or genital sex.

Unexpected small growths in the mouth are likely to be noticed very early, but anal warts can be much less obvious.

Both heterosexuals and homosexuals are equally at risk so be very aware and keep an eye open for any sign of small and unusual growths on the genitals, the anus or the mouth and do not be too embarrassed to take immediate medical advice.

Genital warts can be very dangerous.

It is not only your life at stake but also that of your partners.

A death sentence prognosis that never occurred

Claire Devon, a two year old, was given a death sentence by her doctor. She believed she had an incurable brain cancer. The first symptoms indicated she had the flu. After more observation it showed she had an aggressive form of cancer, usually in children, called ATRT.

A cat scan had revealed a huge mass in the brain. According to her doctor the survival rate was 0% to 10%. An oncologist recommended kimo therapy. However if applied it would be so toxic it would ooze out her skin. When asked what the prognosis would be if Claire didn%26rsquo;t get the treatment it was believed the survival time would be no longer than six months.

With the shrug of the shoulders Mrs. Devon left the doctors office. She was devastated and couldn%26rsquo;t imagine subjecting that toxic of a treatment on her daughter.

To ease her mind she took little Claire to the local mall. While there riding the merry-go-round she saw a small ad that immediately caught her attention.

The ad was for St. Jude%26rsquo;s Research Hospital. That wonderful hospital in Memphis, Tennessee founded by Danny Thomas. That%26rsquo;s where miracle cures have occurred many times over the years. She was so excited she called her husband immediately and asked him to call St. Jude%26rsquo;s right away to see if they could bring their daughter there for an evaluation..

Well Claire did go there and today she is cancer free. What they did for her I%26rsquo;m not totally sure. I just caught the tail end of the interview on the Today Show one morning. Ann Curry was interviewing Claire and her mother along with Marlo Thomas, Director of St. Jude%26rsquo;s. Marlo was asked by Ann Curry, %26quot;why wouldn%26rsquo;t a hospital or a doctor direct someone to go to a place like St. Jude%26rsquo;s%26quot;? Marlo said, there are %26quot;good hospitals%26quot; and there are %26quot;bad hospitals.%26quot; %26quot;They just never seem to make patients aware of such places.%26quot;

What is very disturbing to me is that the conventional medical establishment doesn%26rsquo;t make it a policy to tell people about alternative cures or treatments. All they seem to think about is just prescribing drugs for any disease or illness for their patients. That%26rsquo;s nothing more then a band aid treatment. The proper diagnosis has to come from getting to the root of the problem instead of treating the symptoms.

What is kind of frightening is if Mrs. Devon hadn%26rsquo;t seen that ad that day for St. Jude%26rsquo;s little Claire could now be dead. What is it going to take to wake up America to the fact that conventional medicine in most cases is a disgrace? This is a word that a prominent doctor of many years of practice used at the end of a report I found while researching for alternative medicine information.

I know for a fact that the alternative medicine method is beginning to catch more of the public%26rsquo;s attention than ever today. I guess those of us who are strong believers in those methods just need to keep informing everyone they know and meet of their beliefs. I%26rsquo;ve taken it even a couple of steps further. I continue to write articles encouraging people to become more educated about alternative medicine and then I advise them to take personal charge of their health. I also recommend if you are being treated by a conventional doctor make sure you scrutinize his findings and even get a second opinion preferably from a naturopathic doctor.

In addition to writing articles about health and preaching my philosophy to anyone who will listen I also publish a bimonthly newsletter with one page devoted specifically to health issues and now I have a new web site devoted entirely to health information. I%26rsquo;m on a crusade to do what I can to educate everyone I can of the merits of alternative medicine. Join me in my crusade I could use your help.

How do you usually react when someone is blaming you, criticizing or judging you, being irritated with you, yelling at you, withdrawing from you, or resisting you?

There are two forms of reaction from the wounded self: overt and covert. Both forms come from the intent to control. Both overt and covert reactivity are intended to get the other person to change through some form of teaching, punishment, or guilting. The wounded self often says, %26quot;This person is behaving in a way that is unacceptable to me, and I cannot allow him or her to get away with this. I have to teach them a lesson so they won't continue to treat me this way.%26quot; The wounded self is convinced that trying to get the other person to change with teaching, guilting or punishing is taking care of yourself. In reality, you cannot be trying to control someone else and be taking care of yourself in the same moment.

Overt reactivity

Overt reactivity is anything you say out loud to control the other person. This includes: * Any form of criticism, judgment, and parental tone of voice * Any form of blame, including telling your feelings with the intent of making the other person responsible for your feelings * Arguing, explaining, defending, and teaching * Whining, crying *

Threatening Overt reactivity also includes an overt violent action, such as throwing things or hitting. When we are reacting overtly, we hope that by intimidating, punishing, guilting, or teaching, we can get the other person to change and be the way we want them to be or think they should be.

Covert Reactivity

Covert reactivity is when you don't overtly say or do anything, but in your head you are judging, blaming and condemning the other person. You are punishing the other person by withdrawing your love or attention.

Your wounded self is muttering things like, %26quot;What a jerk. I'll show her she can't treat me this way. I won't speak to her for two days. That will teach her a lesson.%26quot;

You have convinced yourself that if you withdraw love or attention, the other person will recognize the error of their ways and change. Even though you are not saying anything, the other person picks up the energy of your blame and may further react with their anger, blame or withdrawal.

There are two main problems with either form of reactivity:

1. They don't work to get the other person to change. In fact, they generally create the opposite of what you want. Instead of changing, the other person feels controlled or rejected by you and then responds with his or her own overt or covert form of reactivity. This creates a very negative circle where both people feel wronged and are trying to get the other person to see what he or she has done that is causing the problems.

2. Overt and covert negative reactions end up making you feel awful. Anytime you react from your wounded self, you will feel badly. Your bad feelings are letting you know that your thoughts and behavior are not in your highest good - not in alignment with your essence.

While the wounded self believes you have to teach the other person a lesson and not let them get away with their wounded behavior, responding with your wounded behavior only perpetuates the problem for both of you.

So what to do when someone is treating you badly?

When your intent is to take loving care of yourself, you will disengage without blame. One way of doing this is to hum a happy song in your head as you walk away from a negative interaction. When your intent is to take care of yourself rather than control the other person, you can disengage without taking anything personally and without trying to get the other person to change. When you do this, you will feel wonderful, regardless of how the other person is acting, and the other person will be stuck with his or her own bad feelings. The other person will be much more likely to take responsibility for their feelings and behavior when you are taking loving care of yourself.

Practicing non-reactivity is taking loving action!

As people try to get the most from their life experiences, it is important to feel their best. Confidence comes from many sources, and one of them is feeling comfortable with how you look. Plastic surgery and other cosmetic enhancements might offer options for looking the way you always hoped to.

Plastic surgery is not for everyone and is not a decision to be taken lightly. My best patients are the most informed about what plastic surgery can and cannot do. They understand their own goals and how plastic surgery might help accomplish them. If you are seeking changes from plastic surgery, it is useful to understand what sorts of procedures are most helpful at different ages.

Teens: Focus on the center of the face.

We see a lot of people in their teens who are concerned about their noses. Sometimes they feel their nose is too large, or has a bump in its bridge, or that it simply does not match the rest of their face.

Rhinoplasty (sometimes called a %26ldquo;nose job%26rdquo;) can bring the nose into harmony with the rest of one%26rsquo;s features. The nose is at the center of the face. If people feel their nose has improved its appearance, they tend to feel much more confident in their overall appearance.

20%26rsquo;s: Tune-up for bodies.

That means liposuction for men and women, and often breast procedures for women. Liposuction works best for people who are in good shape overall, but have stubborn areas that resist the good effects of diet and exercise. We do a lot of liposuction on men on their chests and %26ldquo;love handles%26rdquo; and for women on their thighs and tummies. Recovery from the procedure is usually rather quick, with most returning to work in several days.

Many women have breast augmentations to become larger or to make the breasts more even in size or position. Others have breast reduction procedures if they have always felt top-heavy. Increasingly, many men are having male chest reduction procedures in their 20%26rsquo;s, if they are overly full in this area. This might be part of a situation called %26ldquo;gynecomastia%26rdquo; in which the male chest appears uncomfortably large.

30%26rsquo;s: Time to bring out the eyes and smooth those first lines.

We see both men and women in their 30%26rsquo;s who have full or baggy upper eyelids or puffiness of their lower eyelids. An eyelift can refresh the entire face and get rid of that tired-looking appearance. Fine lines often benefit from Botox treatments. This medicine works to quiet the tiny muscles in the face. When the muscles are quiet, they do not contract as deeply so they do not pull the overlying skin inward to cause wrinkles.

40%26rsquo;s: Another body tune-up time.

By the time we reach our 40%26rsquo;s, our bodies can show a bit of age. Sometimes a tummy tuck provides dramatic changes to the midsection. For men and women who have gained or lost a fair amount of weight, or for women who have had babies, a tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens the muscles beneath. The result is a new and flat contour. For women, the procedure can be combined with a breast lift, or a small breast implant to reshape the entire torso %26ndash; a procedure we call the Rodeo Drive Mommy Makeover.

50%26rsquo;s and 60%26rsquo;s: Back to the face.

As we age, our skin tends to sag. In our 50%26rsquo;s and 60%26rsquo;s this loose skin usually is most noticeable in the neck, along the jaw line, and in the cheeks. A facelift tightens the muscles of the face and neck along with the skin. Modern techniques emphasize work on the deeper tissues, so the skin is not pulled very tightly. This provides a natural appearance to the result, and avoids the %26ldquo;windswept%26rdquo; appearance common from facelifts in the past. A gentle touch when working on the skin is especially important for facelifts in men, who can look somewhat feminized when the skin is pulled too tightly.

Cosmetic surgery works best when people have specific concerns they want to address. If you are using plastic surgery to look your best for dating, think carefully about what specifically you would like to improve about your appearance. Plastic surgery will not solve social, family, or work problems. But it can help you feel comfortable in your own skin, and this sort of self-confidence goes a long way in the world of dating.

Resentment vs. Forgiveness

%26quot;I'll never forgive Gary for what he did to me. He doesn't deserve my forgiveness,%26quot; Carolyn told me in one of our early phone sessions. Carolyn's focus was on whether or not Gary deserved to be forgiven, rather than on whether or not it was loving to her to forgive or to continue holding resentment.

Take a moment to tune into how you feel when you choose to hold on to blame. Do you feel happy, open, peaceful, and joyous, or do you feel angry, tense, closed, and unhappy?

What Carolyn didn't realize is that forgiving someone is not about them. It is about taking loving care of ourselves by releasing ourselves from resentment and blame. It is about moving out of being a victim of others' choices and taking responsibility for our own feelings of wellbeing.

%26quot;But what Gary did was unforgivable,%26quot; Carolyn told me.

%26quot;How can I forgive him for cheating on me and ruining our marriage. How can I forgive him for leaving me for a younger woman, for breaking up our family, and for the pain he has caused our children? What he did hurt so many people. Why should I forgive him for it? Wouldn't that be the same as condoning his behavior?%26quot;

This is a common misconception - that forgiveness is the same as condoning.

I remember reading about a woman whose adolescent son got shot and killed by another adolescent boy. While this mother was heartbroken and never condoned what the other boy did, she not only forgave him, she got to know him and helped him to heal the pain that led to his shooting her son.

It is not loving to ourselves to condone others' unloving behavior, nor is it loving to ourselves to continue to hold negative feelings in our body.
The energy of resentment and blame brings down our frequency, making it impossible to connect with our Guidance.
Resentment is like a poison that continues to feed upon it self, creating more and more darkness.

%26quot;Carolyn, what are you afraid of if you let go of your resentment and forgive Gary for what he did?%26quot;
%26quot;I'm afraid he will think that what he did is okay.%26quot;
%26quot;At this point, why are you concerned with what he thinks? What difference does it make to your life right now what he thinks?%26quot;
%26quot;I just don't want him to think that he can just act like this and get away with it.%26quot;
%26quot;So you are punishing him by holding blame and resentment within yourself?%26quot;
%26quot;Yeah, I guess I am. He should be punished.%26quot;
%26quot;And who do you think is suffering as a result of your punishing him?%26quot;
%26quot;Well, certainly not him! He is having the time of his life!%26quot;
%26quot;Are you suffering as a result of focusing on punishing him instead of taking loving care of yourself?%26quot;
%26quot;Well, I am miserable. But I'm miserable because of what he did to me.%26quot;
%26quot;I know that is what you believe, but the truth is that you are miserable because you are focusing on punishing him rather than on taking loving care of yourself. You are being a victim, blaming him for your feelings. Your feelings are being caused by what you are telling yourself and how you are treating yourself - not by anything Gary has done. From what you told me in our last session, you weren't any happier before Gary left than you are now. You were always making him responsible for you and he never did it right enough for you. As long as you have your eyes on him instead of on taking loving care of yourself, you will feel miserable.%26quot;
%26quot;I'm tired of being miserable. That's why I called you. But I don't know how to forgive him.%26quot;

%26quot;Carolyn, forgiveness is a natural outcome of taking loving care of yourself. As you practice self-care and learn how to take responsibility for your own pain and joy, you will stop blaming Gary for your feelings.

The more you learn how to love the beautiful essence that is within you, the more you will find yourself forgiving Gary.%26quot;

Resentment towards others is a clear sign that we are not taking care of ourselves. As you shift your intent from blaming others to loving yourself, you will find that forgiveness follows naturally.

It is generally thought that osteoporosis occurs as a disease in older people. However, it can in actual fact strike at any age.

There is a risk for millions of people. The disease is associated with women, but as a matter of fact, men also suffer from the condition. It true however, that women are four times more likely to develop osteoporosis than men.

Osteoporosis is a disease whereby the bones become fragile and brittle, which leads to a high risk of breakages or cracking of the bones.

Osteoporosis can affect any bone. However the most common areas are the hip bones, spine, ribs, pelvis, upper arms and wrists.

There are generally no warning signs, symptoms or pain to indicate that an individual has osteoporosis, until the fracture occurs. These fractures can occur with a simple bump, strain or minor fall. It is for this reason that osteoporosis is very often referred to as the %26ldquo;silent disease%26rdquo;.

Changes in posture can be developed due to osteoporosis, such as a stoop in the back, weakness of the muscles, loss of height and bone deformity of the spine.

Such fractures can lead to severe pain, disability, loss of independence and in serious cases, premature death.

An osteoporosis fracture is something that will be suffered by one in every two Caucasian women, and one in every eight men over the age of fifty years at some time in their remaining lifetime.

For women, in the first 5 to 7 years after menopause, it is possible to lose up to 20% of bone mass, which increases their chance of developing the disease.

The occurrence of osteoporosis happens when bones lose vital minerals, such as calcium, quicker than they can be replaced by the body, which leads to the loss of bone thickness. Due to this, the bones become thinner and lose their density. Therefore fractures can occur when having the slightest bump or accident.

Some of the other factors also include:

  • Having a thin or small frame,

  • Anorexia nervosa,

  • Advanced age,

  • Post menopause, including early or induced menopause,

  • A family history of the disease,

  • Low testosterone in men,

  • Sedentary lifestyle,

  • Smoking,

  • The excessive consumption of alcohol.

Prevention

Osteoporosis is something which you are never to young to prepare yourself for.

The best foundation for prevention in later years is by building strong bones from early childhood and the teen years.

By the age of twenty, an average woman will have acquired 98% of her skeletal mass.

There are three fundamental steps that a person should begin to take at any age, in order to minimize the chances of developing osteoporosis.

The first step, and the most important, is to increase the intake of calcium. It is necessary for most individuals to have an intake of 1,000 to 1,300 mgs of calcium on a daily basis in order to build and maintain healthy bones. There are many different sources of calcium, including calcium supplements. The intake of calcium should also be combined with Vitamin D. This assists the body in absorbing and retaining calcium. Again, there are many different sources of this valuable nutrient available.

Second, it is essential to lead a healthy lifestyle, with no heavy alcohol consumption and no smoking.

And third, regular exercise should be undertaken. Studies show that physical activity can greatly help to prevent osteoporosis. The body will benefit from exercise such as jogging, hiking, swimming, racquet sports and even weight lifting. However, for those individuals that are advancing in years, it is advised to seek medical advice on the size of weights and intensity of the exercise routines, as there is a danger of over doing it, which may result in fractures, if the disease is already present in the body.

According to medical experts, bone mass can be increased by as much as 20% in women by the age of thirty, if following a balanced diet and regular exercise routines.

Measurements of bone density can be taken in various parts of the body without any pain, discomfort or invasive procedure. These tests will establish an individuals%26rsquo; rate of bone density loss and monitor the effects on a regular basis, as well as detecting the disease before experiencing a related fracture.

If an individual assumes that they have osteoporosis, then it is advised to consult a medical advisor and request a bone density test.

Have you ever had the experience of sharing your kindness with someone - just for the joy of it with no intent to control - and the other person didn't receive it as kindness?

Just because we offer love or kindness doesn't mean that the other person will receive it. We do not control another's intent, so just because we are open-hearted, doesn't mean that the other person will be open-hearted. When someone doesn%26rsquo;t receive your positive energy with his or her own positive energy, this may be a wonderful opportunity for learning. If you do not take the other person's resistance personally, then you can stay open and ask the other person about their reaction in a kind way.

One of my readers asked me to write an article on this subject, stating that: %26quot;%26hellip;you say something positive to someone about them and you feel and know from your loving Adult that your intent is to be giving and not to control and they have trouble accepting that, maybe because of their past experiences with other people.

I have had this happen and my loving Adult recognized that my intent was to be kind without expecting anything in return. (My personal philosophy is that you give positive things from your joy without expectation just because it is fun and feels good. It is a %26quot;gift%26quot; to share your joy without expecting anything in return. It is part of my essence). I remained open and asked the other person about their reaction in a kind way and it became a learning moment for both of us.%26quot;

Learning moments are wonderful!

For an interaction to be a learning moment, both people need to be open to learning.

Even if you stay open to learning when someone doesn't receive your kindness, the other person may not open to learning with you. As much as we all want to believe that if we are loving and kind, others will be loving and kind, this is not the case. Our intent does not determine another's intent. While we might influence a closed person to be open with our own kindness, that person might still choose to remain closed. When this is the case, we cannot learn with each other.

If you have difficulty receiving others' love and kindness, there must be a very good reason for it.
What has happened in your past that led to a lack of trust of others' kindness? Did your parents give with strings attached? In my background, my mother gave with big strings attached, while my father gave freely. I become like my father, loving to give, but not trusting that others were giving from the heart. Before Inner Bonding, I assumed that most other people were like my mother and would attempt to extract something from me as a result of their giving. Not having a loving Adult to take care of me when others wanted something from me, and not wanting to be indebted to them, I had trouble receiving their love or kindness. As I developed my loving Adult, I developed my ability to discern the difference in energy between someone giving from the heart and someone giving to get. I also developed the ability to say no to someone's expectations of reciprocity. I now receive others' love and kindness graciously and give when it brings me joy to do so.

I no longer feel that I %26quot;owe%26quot; anything when I receive others' kindness. I know that if they are giving from the heart, they are receiving in the giving, and if they aren't, they will feel upset - but that it is their issue, not mine!

No one's skin escapes the effects of aging. The years are bestowing fine lines on your face, and you may have begun to wonder what BOTOX %26reg; Cosmetic is like. The BOTOX %26reg; Cosmetic treatment for the relief of frown lines and crow's feet has become extremely popular since its approval in 2002 by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Because BOTOX %26reg; is a medical, albeit non-surgical, treatment, you should weigh its benefits and possible problems before rushing out to get a treatment.

To briefly explain BOTOX %26reg;, it is a protein derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Very small amounts of this protein are injected into the muscle tissue beneath the skin on your forehead, between your brows, and near your eyes.

BOTOX %26reg; paralyzes these small facial muscles and causes the fine wrinkles to diminish within a couple days. The effect is temporary and lasts for approximately four months.

When applied appropriately and under the correct medical supervision, the risks of using BOTOX %26reg; are minimal. The problems generally go away after a few days.

Problems experienced by people receiving a BOTOX %26reg; treatment include:

  • Headache soon after treatment

  • Respiratory infection

  • Flu syndrome

  • Forehead and/or eyelid drooping

  • Nausea

The side effects listed above are short term. Other problems at the site of injection can occur in some people. These injection site difficulties include:

  • Pain (often treated with a topical anesthetic)

  • Redness and swelling

  • Bruising

  • Bleeding

  • Numbness

  • Muscle weakness

The chance of these uncomfortable problems can be reduced by making sure you do not rub the injection sites and by having a skilled medical professional administer the treatment. It is important to note that if you have allergies to egg products, then you may react negatively to a BOTOX %26reg; treatment. Discussing your medical background and health with a physician is the best way to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for BOTOX %26reg;.

The benefits of BOTOX %26reg; are why it is so popular and you have probably heard about it. The treatment has proven to be very effective for most people, who enjoy the reduction of fine lines between their brows and on their foreheads. Although the treatment only remains effective for about four months, you can repeat treatment when necessary.

Benefits of BOTOX %26reg; Cosmetic treatments:

  • Fast application %26ndash; A treatment typically only takes 10 or 15 minutes.

  • Affordable, especially when compared to facelift surgery.

  • Non-surgical. The treatment only consists of small injections.

  • No down time from work or play.

T
he development of BOTOX %26reg; for the temporary reduction of frown lines and crow's feet has allowed many people to revisit the faces of their youth. Whether an indulgence for a special occasion or part of an ongoing beauty regimen, BOTOX %26reg; is an attractive option for many people.
